In the following checks, BS denotes Back Seat and FS denotes Front Seat.
Use the following procedures when starting up the aircraft:
Interior Check
- BS RTR BRK switch - OFF
- FS/BS HDU - On
Before Starting APU
- BS MSTR IGN switch - BATT
- FIRE DET/EXTG panel TEST switch - Test as follows:
- BS Position 1: - MSTR WARN, ENG 1, APU, and ENG 2 FIRE buttons are illuminated, a DECK FIRE warning is displayed on the UFD and voice warning systems activated.
- FS Position 2: - MSTR WARN, ENG 1, APU, and ENG 2 FIRE and DISCH buttons are illuminated, a DECK FIRE warning is displayed on the UFD and voice warning system is activated.
Starting APU
- BS APU exhaust area clear - Check
- BS APU - Start as follows:
- APU button - Press and release
- UFD - Monitor for APU advisories
Before Starting Engines
- FS/BS NVS MODE switch - As desired
- BS Perform control sweep and trim check
Starting Engines
- BS Area - Clear
Note: Rotor lock starts are not currently simulated, ensure RTR BRK is OFF to start the engines.
- BS RTR BRK switch - OFF or
LOCK - BS EXT LT - As required
- BS First engine - Start as follows:
- START switch - Start
- POWER lever - IDLE, at first indication of NG increase
- ENGINE OIL PSI - Monitor
- TGT - Monitor
- NG - Monitor
- MSTR WARN, MSTR CAUT, and UFD - Monitor
- BS Second engine - Start:
- Same as first - Start
- BS RTR BRK switch - OFF
- BS POWER levers - Advance both POWER levers smoothly to FLY and ensure that both torque indications increase simultaneously.
- BS NP and NR - Verify 101%
- BS MSTR WARN, MSTR CAUT, and UFD - Monitor
- BS APU - Off
Before Takeoff Check
- FS/BS Weapons subsystem - Check the following:
- A/S button - SAFE
- Weapons not actioned - Verify
- BS POWER levers - FLY
- FS/BS Systems - Check as follows:
- Fuel quantity - Check
- UFD - Check
- Engine and flight instruments - Check
- ASE - As required
- Avionics - As desired:
- NAV - As desired
