AH-64DField Manual v3.0

Flying

Shutdown

From the ground run back to a cold aircraft.

PLT
  1. Land, collective fully down, and hold the aircraft still.
  2. Weapons: de-action everything and set the armament panel to SAFE.
  3. NVS mode: OFF.
  4. Power levers: IDLE. Let the engines run at idle for a minute or two so TGT comes down. A hot engine restarted too soon starts hot.
  5. Power levers: OFF. Ng and Nr run down.
  6. Rotor brake: BRK once Nr is below 50%. The brake does nothing above that. It stops the rotor in well under a minute; set LOCK to hold it.
  7. APU: off, if it is running.
  8. MSTR IGN: OFF. The displays go dark.
  9. HDU: stow the monocle.

The ROTOR BRAKE ON advisory with both levers off is normal. The RTR BRK ON/LK caution means a power lever is off its OFF stop with the brake set.
